March 2015 Rednal Final Round Championship Winner

Dean Woods and his Racing

Round 4 of Rednal Winter Series (January) Finished 1st x2 and 2nd
My name is Dean Woods and I'm half Thai and half English. I'm 15 years old and my mother is Thai and my father is English. I was born in Liverpool and live just north of there in Ormskirk. I go to Range High School and am in the process of achieving good grades to be able to go to university and get a degree in motorsport engineering.
I have always pursued my dream of becoming professional racing driver but I've never had the golden opportunity to showcase my talent to the motorsport world.
I first drove a go-kart when I was 4 and realised racing is what I wanted to do when I was older. I follow the sport closely so I can learn as much as possible in the process. I started competitive karting when I was 13 years old using a TKM go-kart. I spent plenty of time at test sessions developing my driving skills physically and mentally. I did a few race meetings in this particular kart finishing in strong point scoring positions. Once I had got to grips with the feel of wheel to wheel racing and became more confident with the skills I had honed, I felt a more serious approach was needed to karting.
The next step in my early racing career was to move up to a higher category of racing. I replaced my TKM go-kaart with a faster, more complex go-kart... a junior Rotax go-kart. This type of kart is capable of reaching speeds of up to 125kph. Again, I practiced on many test days throughout the year training my reflexes and developing my skills even further. I entered many events and finished on the podium countless times whilst also picking up wins.
Right now, I race at Rednal, Hooton Park. I've just won the Rednal Winter Series Championship. The championship went down to the wire but after the full 18 races, I emerged champion by 20 points. Now, I plan to do many test days at Three Sisters Race Track Wigan and a few races at Hooton Park to prepare fully for the end of this year as I hope to start MSA racing in the MBKC (Manchester & Buxton Kart Club) in the Senior Rotax Class.
My ambition is clear to me. One day, I want my name to be thouroughly known throughout the motorsport community. I'm devoted to motorsport and my main goal is to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans because it is the most prestigious sports car race in the world. Also, I want to win the World Endurance Championship because to win that series, a driver must need the highest levels of concentration, dertermination, fitness and endurace and to know you have them qualities as a driver is highly satisfying.
I want to be known as a winner, someone who has done something special and is the best at what they do. I'm willing to do anything it takes to become a professional racing driver no matter how tough or how physically demanding it is because it is my main ambition.
